The beautiful school building, along with the facilities and resources that it provides, helps teachers to create stimulating, engaging, inspiring learning environments for the benefit of the children in their classes
Due to the size of the school, Hurst Green Church of England Primary School is arranged in mixed-age classes and the children are organised into four classes as follows:
Willow Class (Reception)
Silver Birch Class (Year 1 and Year 2)
Chestnut (Year 3 and Year 4)
Oak Class (Year 5 and 6)
We have a large turfed playing field and playground—both of which have beautiful views of the Sussex countryside
All children are given work appropriate to their age and level of ability, and our teachers use a variety of teaching methods, grounded in educational theory and research. The choice of teaching approach is determined by each lesson’s intended learning objectives and the input and activities planned to help each child reach their targets.
The teachers at Hurst Green Church of England Primary School are very knowledgeable and creative and their methods are flexible enough to ensure that children experience a variety of situations and groupings. These include whole-class teaching, ability-group teaching, collaborative group work, and quiet, sustained individual work.
