Breakfast Club
We run a breakfast club every morning from 8am to the start of the school day.
Children are offered a chose if cereals, toast with spreads, fruit, yoghurt and a choice of milk, juice or water. The children can then play games, drawing/colouring or construction. If the weather is fine they can also play outside.
The cost is currently (September 2024) £4.60 a day.

The School Day
Our school hours are as follows
Reception and Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) 8.40am-3.10pm
Total teaching time for Key Stage 1 is 33 hours hours per week
Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) 8.40am to 3.20pm
Total teaching time for Key Stage 2 is 33.5 hours per week
After School Club
After school club runs everyday between 3.15pm – 5pm throughout term time, except for bank holidays and staff training days.
The cost is currently (September 2024) £6 a day.
Collective Worship
At Hurst Green we hold daily Collective Worship, this follows a half termly, 1 year cycle to cover our 6 Christian Values as well as the major Christian festivals including Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Pentecost.

Currently the children have the opportunity to learn piano during the school day, this is taught by Mrs Ham. If you are interested in your child learning the piano please contact the school office who will put you in contact with Mrs Ham directly.

Hurst Green School Choir sang to the Over 75’s Breakfast Club at Hurst Green Village Hall.
Worship Warriors
Worship Warriors help to lead Collective Worship at Hurst Green, they do the greeting and sending as well as writing prayers. Pupils from each class are represented.
School Council
Pupils from all classes are represented in our School Council. They meet regularly with Mrs Ivil to help plan school events.
Buddies
Our Year 6 children are very proud buddies to our reception children. They first meet them when they visit for their transition day in July and support them daily to settle in to school life.
Clubs
At Hurst Green Church of England Primary School, we try to introduce our children to a wide range of different extra- curricular activities. There are different clubs and extra- curricular activities to suit a range of interests. The clubs run on a term to term basis and currently include gymnastics, craft, art and sports club.

Please note that some of our clubs are charged for, but costs are kept to a minimum to enable all children to participate.
We are always on the look-out for new and exciting clubs for our children. If you run a club, or know of one that would be great for our children, please let the school office know.
Healthy Schools
We want all children to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to live healthy and active lives. We have been awarded the internationally renowned Healthy School award, which recognises our school’s healthy practices.

At Hurst Green Church of England Primary School, we recognise the importance of sustainability and environmental education. We are aware of our environment and respectful of the resources and facilities that we use.
